Just a rant: don't touch my car.

I need to get this off my chest.

So, I own a 1993 Honda Accord with 345,000 miles on it. Nothing special. However, to me, it is VERY special considering I love the car and I have been taking care of it for some time.

Now, today, I was standing by my car, windows open, just to take a break and chat with some friends. I did not think anything of this, but I should have kept the windows and doors closed.

My newly in-lawed nephew decided to come up and start climbing the car in through the window. Not cool! I was immediately pissed off! I yelled at him (heartless, I know. But, I HATE children, so I don't care.) and told him, "Stop touching my car, bitch!" He laughed at me. He was a total brat with no discipline.

Not even 5 minutes later, my new in-laws came up to me and told me to never do it again and that was uncool. I explained that he should have never touched my car. They said, "I don't care about your car, don't call him a bitch." Right there, I just about lost it. What was worse is that my parents said that my car is crap and I had no right to do that. Thanks family for "having my back."

So, I should not have acted like that, but at the same time, it doesn't matter what I own. Do NOT disrespect my car!! It doesn't matter if it is my beater Honda or a million dollar Ferrari; just don't touch or disrespect my car. For me, I have every right to call my car a beater, but I LOVE that car and it serves me so well! So, sorry to be a dick, but don't touch my car.

People like to climb on the back bumper of my van and jump on it, putting unneeded wear on the already bad rear suspension. I've almost knocked a friend out one time for doing. And their rebuttal is always that it's a crap car. IDONTCARE it's my car and I'd like it to stay as nice as possible (which it is already not nice as is)

Shit like this makes me mad. It's not even my car and I'm still pissed. One time the neighhbor kids were jumping off the bumpers on my sister's 75 Cutlass. I about lost it. I told them I would get an appraiser and make them pay for any damage on the car if their kids ever touched it again.

I get that we all love cars here, but at some point material positions do not trump people. You had every right to be mad, but the way you acted was seemingly harsh and immature.

I almost did. The car might be a piece of crap, but I still polish it and take care of it (despite crashing it last week doing a hand brake turn. Just a broken wheel and control arm, getting her back tuesday). Other students don't take pride in their cars. My friend with a Volvo 240 let his neighbor kid draw all over it with chalk. I almost died. He wants me to help him swap in a ford 5.0 from a mustang though, so it's all good.

How old is the nephew? You had every right to tell him to stop and not climb into the window, but calling him a bitch from the start might have been a bit harsh. If he kept at it after telling him to step off, then maybe.

It definitely doesn't matter what kind of car it is, and you definitely also don't have the right to make assumptions about someone's car like your inlaws did, but your reaction might have been a tad strong as a first response, regardless of how you feel about children.

My family has never given any good appeal to any of my hobbies I have. Skating, model collecting, video games, etc. They were never ones to encourage me at all. Sorry to say this kid was a bitch, but he does this to everyone's cars. He'll even take belongings out of the vehicle. He has been told multiple times to stop and he never does.

When I see someone even lean up against my car I want to tear my own arm off just so I have something to hit them with but probably worse for me is when a friend has left their car for me to clean and a neighbour has come over to talk while I'm doing it and leans against the car, I just tell them to get off but on one occassion I did flip out because my neighbour had his car keys in his hand and had his hand up against the car, I shouted at him to get the f*** away from the car, his response was 'what's the big deal, its not your car' to which I replied 'no, the car has been left by a friend for me to clean and to remove scratches, not to inflict more. Just because its not mine or yours does not make it right to damage it'. He didn't see where I was coming from and walked away tutting under his breath. Some people really p*** me off when they only see value in their own belongings and others as free game to damage.

I never did see where you answered how old the kid was, I've got this great mental picture of you, at whatever ripe old age you are completely losing your shit towards a 5 year old. It can be frustrating when people do things, but at times they don't know any better. That's when you, as a decent human being and an enthusiast should take time to attempt to educate the kid, and perhaps be a good influence instead of getting the reputation as the asshole uncle. If you had a show car and a random kid touched it at a show, would you publicly react that way ?

people are dicks. I've been in situations like this a few times. this is the scariest/worst one:

One time, An old lady opened the door of her prius and hit the co-driver's door on my mom's jetta. I was alone in the car, while my mom was shopping in target (too lazy to go, would rather stay behind the wheel of the car, listening to my EDM). I saw her do it, and heard it too.

The moment she closed the door, I was already out of my car, and I told her (sternly, but without any menace) to be more careful next time. She respond with "it's just a car, calm down you little brat!" At this point, I lost my shit and started yelling at her. I said something along the lines of "fuck you, I care about my car, unlike you! (points at dirty prius)."

By this point she was quite annoyed, and proceeded to kick my mom's car's door, saying something along the lines of "oh yeah? what are you gonna do now?"

Well, what I did was I grabbed the tennis racket that was (very conveniently) in the backseat of my car (I grabbed through the open window) and said "you try that again, and we'll see how it turns out for you". This apparently scared her, as she quietly (and quickly) walked away.

I then proceeded to key her car. multiple times. No one messes with my babies and gets away with it.

There's a better way to handle this. The kid needs to be taught, not cursed out. Save the cursing for his dumbshit parents.. Give the kid a mug of espresso, doped up with sugar, teach him some swear words and take him back to the parents.

Either that, or a beating. Beat him until your morale improves. :P

Of course, I may be the exception around here, but I tend to be very mellow about my Mazda. The Fiat, I'm not so chill about, but the Mazda, I am. As the Mazda racks up the miles, that is slowly changing, but I don't mind letting small children play with the button on the hatch, or letting them play with the interior buttons. In fact, I see it as spreading the car bug. This is, though, with permission.

Without permission, take the kid to its parents and instruct them on how to keep their home-brewed parasite to themselves.

Nice story: Walking to my car from the gym there was a Ducati Panigale parked near my car and a 4 year old was obsessed with it. As he approached to touch it his father went "You NEVER touch someone else's bike. Never."

I'm a parent to two children...ages 20 and 26.

I've never laid a hand on either one of them.

When they were younger, all I had to do was completely lose my shit about once a year when they did something dumb. It was such an unpleasant experience for them.....all I had to do most of the time when they were misbehaving was to just give them "the look"....you need to do that with your nephew but quietly and in a way that will emotionally scar him for life.
